     Dr. Hezekiah Phelps was born in 1725. He was the son of Lt. Samuel Phelps and Abigail Eno. Dr. Hezekiah Phelps married Lydia Griswold, daughter of Samuel Griswold and Elizabeth Gaylord, on 21 February 1749/50 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Dr. Hezekiah Phelps died on 9 June 1752 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee was born on 6 December 1731 at Rehoboth, Bristol Co., MA.¹ He was the son of Hezekiah Chaffee and Mary Toogood. Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee married Lydia Griswold, daughter of Samuel Griswold and Elizabeth Gaylord, circa 1757 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee died on 4 March 1819 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 87.² He was buried at Palisado Cemetery, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

     Hezekiah Chaffee was born on 19 April 1706 at Swansea, Bristol Co., MA.¹ He was the son of John Chaffee and Sarah Hills. Hezekiah Chaffee died on 18 October 1731 at age 25.¹

     Lydia Phelps was born on 11 December 1750. She was the daughter of Dr. Hezekiah Phelps and Lydia Griswold.

     Hepzibah Chaffee was born on 12 August 1758. She was the daughter of Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee and Lydia Griswold. Hepzibah Chaffee died on 8 July 1834 at age 75.

     Mary Chaffee married Capt. James Hooker. Mary Chaffee was born on 28 July 1760. She was the daughter of Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee and Lydia Griswold.

     Capt. James Hooker married Mary Chaffee, daughter of Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee and Lydia Griswold.

     Hezekiah Chaffee was born on 21 March 1762 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee and Lydia Griswold. Hezekiah Chaffee married Charlotte Bradley in September 1785.¹ Hezekiah Chaffee died on 18 October 1821 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 59.¹ He was buried at Palisado Cemetery, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Charlotte Bradley was born on 15 July 1764.¹ She married Hezekiah Chaffee, son of Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee and Lydia Griswold, in September 1785.¹ Charlotte Bradley died on 24 March 1812 at age 47.¹

     John Chaffee was born on 22 February 1767. He was the son of Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee and Lydia Griswold.

     Elisha Griswold Jr. was born on 26 December 1762 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² He was the son of Elisha Griswold and Eunice Viets. Elisha Griswold Jr. married Arispha Mitchelson, daughter of Eliphalet Mitchelson, on 14 May 1787 at Scotland (now Bloommfield), CT.²

     Alexander Viets Griswold was born on 22 April 1766 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.³ He was the son of Elisha Griswold and Eunice Viets. Alexander Viets Griswold was baptized on 25 May 1766. He married Elizabeth Mitchelson on 6 May 1786 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.³ Alexander Viets Griswold died on 15 February 1843 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA, at age 76.

Dorothy Viets Schell quotes the Dictionary of American Biography:

". . . Alexander's early years were spent on his father's farm, but when he was ten years old, since he displayed more interest in books than in agriculture, his uncle, Roger Viets, then rector of the Simsbury parish, took him into his own home. He now assisted in the cultivation of the parish glebe, but had the advantage of his knowledge of the classics and mathematics besides much general information. The impoverishment of his father who endeavored to remain neutral during the Revolution, the removal of his Loyalist uncle to Nova Scotia after the war, and his own early marriage to seventeen-year-old Elizabeth Mitchelson in 1785, prevented him from entering Yale as he had planned. Until he was twenty-eight years old he cultivated a small farm, and read law though without expectation of practising it. Persuaded by his friends who believed his character and abilities fitted him for the ministry, in 1794 he offered himself as a candidate for orders. In 1795 he was made deacon, and alter i the same year was ordained priest by Bishop Seabury at Plymouth, Conn. For ten years (1794-1804) he served a the same time the churches in Plymouth, Harwinton, and Northfield, eking out his small salary by farming and teaching. In 1804 he became rector of St. Michael's Church, Bristol, R. I. He was elected bishop of the Eastern diocese May 31, 1810, and was consecrated at Trinity Church, New York, may 29, 1811. He continued to serve as rector at Bristol until 1830 when he took charge of St. Peter's Church, Salem, Mass., and it was not until five years later that he devoted himself wholly to his episcopal work. "

     Ezra Griswold was born on 6 December 1767 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.⁴ He was the son of Elisha Griswold and Eunice Viets. Ezra Griswold married Ruth Roberts, daughter of Lemuel Roberts Jr. and Ruth Woodford, on 8 November 1789 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^5,4 Ezra Griswold died on 22 October 1822 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH, at age 54.⁵ He was buried at Saint John's Cemetery, Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.⁴

The family moved from Tariffville to Worthington, Ohio, in 1803, joining with a friend's plans for emigration to Ohio under the Scioto Company's agreement. The place where they settled was an unbroken wilderness, in which they were the first white settlers. Ezra was a devoted adherent of the Protestant Episcopal Church. Although he had never received a liberal education, he was, with the aid of his excellent mother, manly self-taught. He was admirably qualified for public employment, but was of a retiring domestic nature, and was never called to any higher office than that of justice of the peace in which capacity he served for many years. During the scarcity of money in circulation after the war of 1812, Ezra Griswold is known to have issued two series of paper money or notes.⁶

     Roger Griswold was born on 22 February 1772 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Elisha Griswold and Eunice Viets. Roger Griswold was baptized on 23 April 1772 at Turkey Hills, Hartford Co., CT.⁴ He married Salome Case, daughter of Amasa Case and Elizabeth Phelps, in 1796. Roger Griswold died on 1 December 1824 at age 52.

Roger, with his brother Elisha, operated teh Ranbow Mills near the old home and failed.⁵

     Deborah Griswold was born on 27 August 1776 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.³ She was the daughter of Elisha Griswold and Eunice Viets. Deborah Griswold married Bethuel Baker on 12 July 1811.³ Deborah Griswold died on 13 September 1850 at age 74.³

     Rev. Samuel Griswold was born on 1 January 1780 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Elisha Griswold and Eunice Viets. Rev. Samuel Griswold was graduated at Yale Colege, New Haven, New Haven Co., CT.⁴ He married Thetis Gilchrist, daughter of Peter Gilchrist and Damaris (?). Rev. Samuel Griswold married Maria Riley, daughter of Samuel Riley and Mary (?). Rev. Samuel Griswold lived in 1844 at Volney, NY.

     Sylvia Arabelle Griswold was born on 17 November 1781 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.³ She was the daughter of Elisha Griswold and Eunice Viets. Sylvia Arabelle Griswold married Rev. Jasper Davis Jones in February 1802. Sylvia Arabelle Griswold died on 27 January 1858 at her daughter's, Mrs. Orville Griffin's, Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 76.

     Bethuel Baker married Deborah Griswold, daughter of Elisha Griswold and Eunice Viets, on 12 July 1811.¹

     Rev. Jasper Davis Jones married Sylvia Arabelle Griswold, daughter of Elisha Griswold and Eunice Viets, in February 1802.

     Roger Mills was born on 5 March 1746. He was the son of Pelatiah Mills and Hannah Higley. Roger Mills married Mary Webster, daughter of William Webster and Mary Watson, on 23 March 1767. Roger Mills married Abigail Griswold, daughter of Capt. Noah Griswold and Abigail Griswold, on 17 April 1771 at Wintonbury (now Bloomfield), Hartford Co., CT.¹ Roger Mills died on 12 August 1809 at age 63.

     Mary Webster was born circa 1746 at Wintonbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of William Webster and Mary Watson. Mary Webster married Roger Mills, son of Pelatiah Mills and Hannah Higley, on 23 March 1767. Mary Webster died on 23 October 1768.

     Clarissa Griswold was born on 3 April 1775 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Isaac Griswold and Christina Holcombe. Clarissa Griswold married William Alvord, son of Joseph Alvord and Lucy Griswold, on 8 February 1802.³ Clarissa Griswold died on 1 December 1809 at age 34.²

     Christina Griswold was born on 23 May 1784 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Isaac Griswold and Christina Holcombe. Christina Griswold married Richard Niles on 10 May 1810.² Christina Griswold died on 26 April 1879 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 94.²

     Cyrus Griswold was born on 15 February 1786. He was the son of Isaac Griswold and Christina Holcombe.

     Salina Griswold was born on 2 January 1787 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Isaac Griswold and Christina Holcombe. Salina Griswold married William Alvord, son of Joseph Alvord and Lucy Griswold, on 3 April 1810.^3,2 Salina Griswold died on 4 February 1821 at age 34.²

     Mindwell Griswold was born on 1 March 1788. She was the daughter of Isaac Griswold and Christina Holcombe.

     Emily Griswold was born on 28 April 1790. She was the daughter of Isaac Griswold and Christina Holcombe. Emily Griswold died on 8 December 1827 at age 37.

     Fredus was a Sgt., 25th US Infantry. Fredus Griswold was born on 14 February 1792. He was the son of Isaac Griswold and Christina Holcombe. Fredus Griswold died on 15 November 1813 at age 21.

     Eunice Griswold was born in 1795. She was the daughter of Isaac Griswold and Christina Holcombe. Eunice Griswold died on 5 November 1795.

     Jared Griswold was born on 3 March 1798. He was the son of Isaac Griswold and Christina Holcombe. Jared Griswold died on 11 March 1869 at age 71.

     Samuel Holcombe was the son of Hezekiah Holcombe.

     Malissa Holcombe was the daughter of Samuel Holcombe.

     Anna Griswold was born on 17 February 1766. She was the daughter of Moses Griswold and Anna Holcombe.

     Moses Nichols Griswold was born on 4 January 1769. He was the son of Moses Griswold and Anna Holcombe.

     Anson Griswold was born on 30 September 1769. He was the son of Moses Griswold and Anna Holcombe.

     Vashti Griswold was born on 1 April 1774. She was the daughter of Moses Griswold and Anna Holcombe.

     Rebecca Griswold was born on 13 September 1776. She was the daughter of Moses Griswold and Anna Holcombe.

     Erastus Griswold was born on 26 May 1792. He was the son of Moses Griswold and Anna Holcombe. Erastus Griswold married Betsy Richmond. Erastus Griswold died on 20 March 1867 at Tuscola Co., MI, at age 74.² He was buried at Watertown Township Cemetery, Fostoria, Tuscola Co., MI.²

Erastus' and Betsy's birth dates are from a bible transcription accepted by the GFA.

     Guy Griswold was the son of Moses Griswold and Anna Holcombe.

     Huldah Griswold was the daughter of Moses Griswold and Anna Holcombe.

     Augustine Drake was born on 7 November 1742.² He was the son of Job Drake and Martha Moore. Augustine Drake married Mary Griswold, daughter of Capt. Moses Griswold and Mary Nichols, on 13 December 1761.² Augustine Drake died on 6 May 1777 at Smallpox, Wintonbury Society, CT, at age 34.² He was buried at Palisado Cemetery, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

The Frenches disagree with Stiles on Mary's parents, though Sitles says "probably".

     Job Drake was born in 1705. He was the son of Lieut. Job Drake and Elizabeth Clark. Job Drake married Martha Moore, daughter of John Moore and Martha Farnsworth, on 16 November 1730. Job Drake died on 9 December 1789.

     Martha Moore was born on 24 September 1705. She was the daughter of John Moore and Martha Farnsworth. Martha Moore married Job Drake, son of Lieut. Job Drake and Elizabeth Clark, on 16 November 1730. Martha Moore died on 22 March 1768 at age 62.
