     Patrick McCafferty was born in 1915 at Lissahully, County Donegal, Ireland. He was the son of Michael McCafferty and Mary Jane Corrigan. Patrick McCafferty died in January 1988 at Ballyshannon, County Donegal, Ireland.

     Richard McCafferty was born on 20 May 1918 at Lissahully, County Donegal, Ireland. He was the son of Michael McCafferty and Mary Jane Corrigan. Richard McCafferty died on 23 December 1979 at age 61.

     Francis McCafferty was born circa 1916 at Lissahully, County Donegal, Ireland. Francis McCafferty was the child of Michael McCafferty and Mary Jane Corrigan. Francis McCafferty died circa 1923 at Lissahully, County Donegal, Ireland.

     Susan McCafferty was born in 1919 at Lissahully, County Donegal, Ireland. She was the daughter of Michael McCafferty and Mary Jane Corrigan. Susan McCafferty died in 1921 at Lissahully, County Donegal, Ireland.

     Frances Allethea Murray also went by the name of Allie. She was born on 24 December 1905 at Plains, Sumter Co., GA. She was the daughter of John William Murray and Rose Nettie Wise. Frances Allethea Murray married Wilburn Edgar Smith, son of Wilburn Juriston Smith and Sarah Eleanor Bell, in 1926. Frances Allethea Murray died on 1 April 2000 at Sumter Regional Hospital, Americus, GA, at age 94.

Attended Mossy Dell School near the family homeplace, and graduated from Georgia State College for Women in 1926. After her husband's death in 1940, she worked in the Plains Post Office, retiring after 29 years. She served as treasurer of the Plains United Methodist Church.

Miss Allie, as she was known to neighbors in Plains, made several trips to Brazil and England as an ambassador of the Friendship force, a visitor exchange Jimmy Carter developed when he was governor of Georgia.

On September 17, 1997, Miss Allie suffered a heart attack at a nursing home in Americus. She was hospitalized initially at the Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus and then transferred the following night to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Her heart stopped twice and she suffered broken ribs, an injury that occurred as CPR was being administered.

     Wilburn grew up on his parents' farm in Marion Co., whre he was born, and recalled the devastation of their lands by Yankee soldiers, in 1865. At age 9 he was injured and suffered for a number of years. Due to this he learned different trades other than farming. A Methodist, he became a Justice of the Peace for his district, the Cut Off in southern Marion Co., and was at one time involved with soil testing.


In 1903 the Smiths moved closer to town for the children to attend school, living then about 2 miles from Plains, and it was at this home that W.J. Smith died n 1918. Several years later his widow moved into Plains. Wilburn Juriston Smith was born in 1858 at Marion County, GA. He was the son of Tenderson Smith and Frances R. Thomas. Wilburn Juriston Smith married Sarah Eleanor Bell, daughter of William Henry Bell and Mary Eleanor Fulford, in 1893. Wilburn Juriston Smith died in 1918 at Plains, Sumter Co., GA.

     Sarah Eleanor Bell was born in 1875. She was the daughter of William Henry Bell and Mary Eleanor Fulford. Sarah Eleanor Bell married Wilburn Juriston Smith, son of Tenderson Smith and Frances R. Thomas, in 1893. Sarah Eleanor Bell died in 1951.

     Tenderson was a farmer, living in the Cut Off District near Dranesville, Marion Co. Tenderson Smith was buried at Mt. Tabor (Smith-McGarrah) Cem. He was born in 1815 at Clarke Co., GA. He was the son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy. Tenderson Smith died in 1899.

     The Rev. George Lynch Smith was a North Carolinian by birth who first appeared in Georgia around 1807 when he became an elder and minister of the newly formed Disciples of Christ and performed marriages in the Athens area. He moved c. 1820 to Morgan Co. where he resided until the early 1830s, when he moved, after a break with the Desciples, to newly formed Stewart Co., in southwest Georgia. From there he was a delagate to the State Constitutional convention of 1833. He formed his own branch of the Christian Church at Red Hill in 1837, calling it Providence Chapel. This church, built in 1857, remains today as a monument to the religious and pioneeing spirit of the Rev. Mr. Smith. In 1847 the county lines were changed and his land was transferred from Stewart to Marion County. Around 1852 he moved to Macon Co., Ala., and apparently continued his pioneering spirit well into his 8th and 9th decades, until his death at age 93. He is said to lie in an unmarked grave at Mt. Tabor Churchyard, in the Smith-McGarrah cemetery on the southern edge of Marion Co.

George and Delanna Smith had 12 children, many of whom had very unusual Christian names. George Lynch Smith Rev. was born in 1775 at NC. He married Delanna Peddy circa 1812 at Georgia. George Lynch Smith Rev. died in 1868.

     Delanna Peddy was born in 1786 at NC. She married George Lynch Smith Rev. circa 1812 at Georgia. Delanna Peddy died in 1874.

     Juriston Smith was born in 1814. He was the son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy. Juriston Smith married Lucy Horton in 1834 at Stewart Co., GA.

     Lucy Horton married Juriston Smith, son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy, in 1834 at Stewart Co., GA.

     Elizabeth and her husband are both buried at Friendship (Ga.) Baptist Church Cemetery. Elizabeth Smith was born in 1817. She was the daughter of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy. Elizabeth Smith died in 1898.

     Palestine Smith was born in 1820. He was the son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy.

     Jubile was a minister at the Providence Christian Church, a dentist, and a Civil War veteran. Their descendants include the Bostwicks of Cuthbert. Jubillee's granddaughter, Lamartine Bostwick (1875-1957) researched this family at great length. Jubilee Smith was buried at Richland. He was born in 1822. He was the son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy. Jubilee Smith died in 1901.

     Paul Smith was born circa 1820. He was the son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy.

     John Smith was the son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy.

     Rachel Smith was born circa 1820. She was the daughter of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy.

     Apollos Smith was born in 1829. He was the son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy. Apollos Smith died in 1863 at the Civil War.

     George B. Smith was born in 1830. He was the son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy. George B. Smith died in 1871; Killed by lightning.

     Delanna Smith was born in 1833. She was the daughter of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy.

     Lived in Plain Dealing, La. Moienious Smith was born in 1844. He was the son of George Lynch Smith Rev. and Delanna Peddy. Moienious Smith died in 1930.
